Marketing Research
Market research has always been a passion of mine. I love using both qualitative and quantitative research to more deeply understand the wants and needs of consumers. I want my clients to be able to stop using the term “anecdotally” when they talk about their customers and their market. My goal is to help my clients feel truly confident about their customer and market environment knowledge.
Qualitative research is the “softer” side of research – focus groups, semi-structured interviews, personal interviews. Qualitative research provides the opportunity to dive deep with customers to understand their wants and needs. I’m a trained focus group moderator/interviewer. I’ve moderated hundreds of focus groups and personal interviews, working with start-up companies, non-profit organizations, and large corporations.
Quantitative research – most often survey research – provides statistically representative data for a company. Surveys are an extremely useful tool to obtain a clear picture of a company’s current or potential consumers: their interest, preferences, opinions, etc. While years ago I conducted mail and phone surveys, virtually all of the survey work I do now is online. I have over 35 years of survey research experience covering subjects as diverse as software, eggs, and Bibles.
Business Consulting
Developing business and marketing plans for start-up companies, sole proprietors, and small-to-mid-size companies is a great privilege. My business consulting clients are passionate about what they do and are good at what they do. They know and understand their businesses. My job is not to tell them how to run their businesses but rather to help them sort through their many business and marketing options and opportunities and determine the best direction forward so their companies are better, stronger, and more profitable. In many ways, my work with these clients is closer to coaching than it is consulting.
